Cabotegravir–rilpivirine treatment initiation in a nonvirologically suppressed patient

Currently, there is a single option for a complete parenteral HIV antiretroviral therapy (ART) regimen. Cabotegravir-rilpivirine is a complete HIV ART regimen combining an extended-release injectable integrase strand inhibitor (INSTI) solution (cabotegravir) with an extended-release injectable nonnucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI) solution, which allows for once-a-month dosing.

Compassionate use of long-acting cabotegravir plus rilpivirine for people living with HIV-1 in need of parenteral antiretroviral therapy

Under a single-patient request program sponsored by ViiV Healthcare and Janssen, doctors can request the compassionate use of oral and long-acting (LA) cabotegravir + rilpivirine for patients living with HIV-1. Results are documented within this paper.

Frequency of genotypic factors possibly associated with cabotegravir/rilpivirine failure in antiretroviral treatment-naïve and -experienced HIV-1- infected population

This study aimed to describe the frequency of virologic factors that previously influenced the efficacy of this treatment, namely RPV and CAB resistance-associated mutations.

Early Experience Implementing Long-Acting Injectable Cabotegravir/Rilpivirine for Human Immunodeficiency Virus-1 Treatment at a Ryan White-Funded Clinic in the US South

Long-acting injectable (LAI) antiretroviral therapy (ART) has the potential to improve medication adherence, reduce human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) stigma, and promote equity in care outcomes among people with HIV (PWH). We describe our early experience implementing LAI-cabotegravir/rilpivirine (CAB/RPV) for maintenance HIV-1 treatment.

Perspectives of people living with HIV-1 on implementation of long-acting cabotegravir plus rilpivirine in US healthcare settings: results from the CUSTOMIZE hybrid III implementation-effectiveness study

The CUSTOMIZE hybrid III implementation-effectiveness study evaluated implementation of once-monthly long-acting (LA) cabotegravir + rilpivirine in diverse US healthcare settings. Here, we report patient participant perspectives after 12 months in CUSTOMIZE.

Perspectives of healthcare providers on implementation of long-acting cabotegravir plus rilpivirine in US healthcare settings from a Hybrid III Implementation-effectiveness study (CUSTOMIZE)

CUSTOMIZE evaluated the implementation of long-acting (LA) cabotegravir + rilpivirine, a novel healthcare provider–administered injectable antiretroviral therapy regimen, in diverse US healthcare settings. Findings from staff-study participants (SSPs) through 12 months of implementation are reported.

An evaluation of long-acting cabotegravir + rilpivirine for the treatment of virologically suppressed adults living with HIV

The approval of intramuscular cabotegravir (CAB) and rilpivirine (RPV) offers a new therapeutic modality with the opportunity of a longer dosing frequency. The data from recent trials including FLAIR and ATLAS have shown non-inferiority in treatment based on the current standard of care. This approval has the potential to simplify patient medication regimens, while maintaining

Relative cost-effectiveness of long-acting injectable cabotegravir versus oral pre-exposure prophylaxis in South Africa based on the HPTN 083 and HPTN 084 trials: a modelled economic evaluation and threshold analysis

This study aimed to estimate the cost-effectiveness of long-acting injectable cabotegravir compared with tenofovir disoproxil fumarate and emtricitabine in South Africa, using methods standard to government planning, and to determine the threshold price at which long-acting injectable cabotegravir is as cost-effective as tenofovir disoproxil fumarate and emtricitabine.

Characterization of dolutegravir drug resistance in persons diagnosed with HIV after exposure to long-acting injectable cabotegravir for preexposure prophylaxis

Findings indicate that, while the overall number of people testing positive for HIV following CAB-LA PrEP is extremely low, approximately one in four persons diagnosed with HIV carried a virus resistant to DTG.
